I’m Mauritz, one of the founders here at Prodport, and I thought I’d take this opportunity to personally welcome you to the fold. To start off, I’d like to tell you more about who we are, where we came from, and where we’re headed, but in a slightly less formal tone than our About Us page. So, without further ado, let’s jump right in, shall we?
The Prodport team is composed of 18 software engineers, and 4 founders—each with varying backgrounds and experience working in eCommerce. We are a global team, with members working from the U.S., Switzerland, Germany, Spain, the U.K., and India. Prodport was built on the belief that diversity in both culture and background is what helps us see the bigger picture. And while there are passionate conversations between the team, I believe that these crucial dialogues ignite the spark for novel solutions, which is exactly what Prodport is.
The story begins with a drop-ship e-commerce store named fittport.com, built on Shopify. It quickly became apparent to me that while I can customize and personalize the entire shop experience, the ads, and marketing campaigns to my customers, the most important page – the product page, remained stagnant – one size fits all. It meant for me that I spent a lot of money and resources to bring traffic that didn’t convert as the last mile wasn’t optimized. I reached out to my friends for a brainstorming session, and over several beers, the idea behind the product was born.
The concept behind Prodport has been floating about in the industry for a long time but was never fully realized. We saw that as an opportunity, so we started drawing up rough sketches and having discussions around what we imagined product page personalization could be. We also took it upon ourselves to involve entrepreneurs and investors in the conversation, both to gauge interest and whether the community at large will see the value in such a solution. And so, in April of last year, the initial group of founders—, Ben, Vinod, and I—began the process of converting the nebulous concept of product page personalization into something more concrete.
The real work began the following month, mostly laying down the foundation for what is to come. We worked on our product, started discussions with investors, had the first advisors join our board, and began manifesting a real company. We were drinking our own champagne when we deployed Prodport into Fittport online shop, apating, changing, and creating the solution until we saw some great results (see Fittport’s case study) A friend of the founders, Ohad Hecht with his valuable contributions and unparalleled experience, Ohad became an essential fourth founder that helped us on a path to success earlier this year.
I am proud to announce the official launching of Prodport on March 2022. Potential clients worldwide can now have full access to the platform.
Working on this project has been a challenge, but a welcome and rewarding one. I believe that the world of eCommerce is now ready for a higher level of play, especially when it comes to selling smarter. And I’m happy to say that Prodport and the rest of our team will be there to fuel the growth of those brave enough to dare.
